The Institute for Chinese Martial Arts (ICMA) formally the Chinese Kuoshu Institute (UK) is a non-political, non-profit making and voluntary organisation. The CKI was formally constituted in the United Kingdom in 1990, as an organisation to promote Chinese martial arts and culture with a particular interest in the practice of Chinese Kuoshu also known as Guoshu or Traditional Wushu and more popularly known as Kung Fu. The pinciple styles taught are: Tien Shan Pai; Bao Ding Shuai Jiao; Chen Pan Ling Taiji Quan; and Chinese Boxing (Sparring Training for San Da, Kuoshu Lei Tai and MMA). Although self-governing, the ICMA is a member of: the British Council for Chinese Martial Arts (BCCMA); the British Chinese Kuoshu Association (BCKA); the British Shuai Jiao Union (BSJU); and the United Kingdom Kuo Shu Federation (UKKSF). Through membership of the national organisation the ICMA is a member of: the European Chinese Kuoshu Federation (ECKF); the European Kuoshu Federation (TEKSF); the European Shuai Jiao Union (ESJU); the European Wushu Federation (EWuF); and, by extension, the International Chinese Kuoshu Federation (ICKF); the International Wushu Federation (IWuF); the World Kuoshu Federation (TWKSF); and the soon to be established (Shanghai, October 2012) World Shuai Jiao Union (WSJU). |
